Inline boot making typically involves two pieces: a carbon boot shell and an upper. However, some inline boots are designed as a one-piece construction, which means the boot shell and liner are fused together into a single unit. Ci1 iD is made as a one-piece boot, similar to how custom shoes are made.
The handmade carbon shell and the leather upper part are fully integrated and form an indivisible unit. However, every part of the boot has its own structure. The stiffness, strength, or mouldability are accurately aligned with the functionality of exactly that part of the boot. An advantage is that we are able to save on materials and because of this, the boot is significantly lighter.
Ci1-iD is made with craftsmanship and precision, and that takes time. That is the reason why only a few manufacturers could offer such a boot. The result is a boot, in which all the materials are flowing into each other, without sharp edges, irritating seams, or pressure points.
Ci1 iD is not made on a custom last though (produced using the data from scanning your feet) but we use a standard last. This is the same last as Ci1-Pro, so both offer the same fit.
Ci1-Pro is made a 2-piece way, which is preferred for series production. This design offers less customization than a one-piece boot, as the fit and performance are determined by the factory-set dimensions and materials of the boot. The shell and liner are assembled at the final stage of production. The quality of the boot is mainly determined by the design of the lasts used for the carbon boot shell and the upper, which must be perfectly matched.
